Well Here we are then. Having won 2012's edition of X Factor and having the second fastest selling winner's song in X Factor's history, we now have the added bonus in hearing the release of James Arthur's eponymously titled debut studio album.
The album called (quite simply) James Arthur, is officially released on November 4th 2013, via Syco Music. The album includes the singles Impossible and You're Nobody 'til Somebody Loves You, as well as collaborations with Emeli Sande and Chasing Brace.

Several tracks on the album feature co-writing and production from Naughty Boy, who said of the album; 'It's really cool actually, it's definitely poppy but with an edge and a bit urban. One of the songs that me and Emeli Sande wrote for him is like a big orchestral piece and it has no drums. It's a real album. I think a lot of people are going to be surprised with his album'.
The album features collaborations with Emeli Sande and Chasing Grace, on the tracks Roses and Certain Things respectively. Impossible, Arthur's X Factor winner's single is included as the fourth track on the album. It was released on December 9th 2012. It became the fastest selling single X Factor's winner's single so far, reaching 255,000 downloads within 48 hours and over 490,000 by the end of the week. Porcelain is the third studio album release by English musician Matt Cardle. The album will be released on October 28th 2013 in the UK. Recording locations for this new studio album included London, Los Angeles and New York. The new studio album has primarily been written by Cardle, but as with his previous albums, he worked with various songwriters, including Connor Reeves and American R&B artist Brian McKnight. Matt Cardle has also produced the album and played the majority of the instruments on the album.
The lead single was a duet with Spice Girl Melanie C, called Loving You which was released on August 18th 2013 and reached number 14 on the UK Singles Chart. A second single, When You were My Girl was released on October 13th 2013. The album will be released as a digital download and physical CD, as well as a very limited number of vinyl copies available through Cardle's official website.
On May 14th 2013 at the European Charts Launch Party, Cardle spoke about where he was in the process of making the album at that point, saying for him, it was the 'difficult third album'. as opposed to the difficult second. He also described the album as a lot more diverse than his previous records. In later interviews he revealed that he had been pushing his vocal range more and experimenting with different instruments. In keeping with this, he spent some time in Bury,St Edmunds, close to his home village, recording some church organ for the album.
The Loving You single was premiered on BBC Radio 2 on July 2nd 2013. A Spanish version called Te Amo was also recorded and released. The music video premiered on July 21st 2013 and the single was officially released on August 18th 2013. It reached number 14, on the UK Singles Chart making it Cardle's first Top 40 single since Run for Your Life, from 2011.
The New Album details were released on Cardle's website on September 8th 2013, including details of various tracks on this new album.
Matt Cardle explained about tracks: Hit My Heart begins deceptively with its ethereal intro and stop-start rhythmic verses, but eventually develops into a chorus that's pure euphoria and allows him to demonstrate his skills as an arranger and producer. The track Not Over finds Cardle at his most tender. Co-written with Brian McKnight, the song features a lavish string arrangement and vulnerability in the vocal performance, that he himself admits, caught him slightly 'off-guard'. He mentions that the track Chains has 'trip-hop leanings and tortured lyrics'. This is a song reminiscent of Portishead's early work and certainly finds him exploring new territory.
- Loving You was released as the lead single from the album on August 18th 2013. The track premiered on July 2nd 2013, and the video was released on July 21st 2013. The single charted at number 14 on the UK Singles Chart and sold 30,000 copies in the first two weeks.
- When You Were My Girl was announced as the second single from the album on his official website on September 8th 2013. The video was directed and shot by Nick Spanos in Los Angeles, on September 16th 2013. The single was premiered on BBC Radio 2 on September 30th, and was officially released on October 13th 2013.
